John McCain. Not a bright man.
I'm sure that people remember the Ledbetter case. The one where the apolitical, completely neutral "conservatives" (I'm really looking forward to one or two more of those on the court!) decided that, in a wage discrimination case, the charge had to be filed within 180 days of the act of discrimination (in this instance the unequal pay decision) or too freakin bad for you!
So here's the landscape. When a pay decision is made you have to ask all of your colleagues what they make so you can determine if you're being discriminated against. That's very realistic!
Congress, as is their right, wanted to pass a law overruling this stellar decision but it failed under the dead weight off too many scummy politicians.
When McSogynist was asked about his position on the matter he said he opposed it because "this kind of legislation, as is typical of what's being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems" (that's the point of Title VII doomass) and:
"They need the education and training, particularly since more and more women are heads of their households, as much or more than anybody else," McCain said. "And it's hard for them to leave their families when they don't have somebody to take care of them."It's a vicious cycle that's affecting women, particularly in a part of the country like this, where mining is the mainstay; traditionally, women have not gone into that line of work, to say the least," he said.
HUH??
Yep. He said unequal pay was the fault of the women. They simply didn't have enough training. More training and they'll deserve to get paid better. Funny coming from a man who leeches off his uber-rich wife.
